POOLE Comets overturned an eight-point deficit as they snatched a 101-95 win against Ipswich at Harbourside Raceway.

The victory was the perfect send-off for Australian ace Ty Geertsen, who finished his brief stay at the Poole club with a 19-point haul.

Comets struggled early on but Dawid Bas and Greg Gluchowski banked a 7-3 in heat nine to level the scores.

The Eagles retook the lead but the heat-18 exclusion of Jamie Chittock allowed Wil Bristowe and Maciej Ganczarek to put Poole in front.

Gluchowski and Bas subsequently wrapped up the win in the penultimate heat, with a 5-4 in the closing showdown putting the polish on victory.

Comets team manager Pete Barnes said: “We were on the back foot for a while but it was a brilliant fightback with the whole squad giving 100 per cent.

"I am delighted with the result which must be one for the record books at Harbourside Park."
