MATT Ford admits he is pleasantly surprised Pirates remain firmly in the play-off chase despite their four-week break.
Poole have not raced in the Elite League since they despatched Swindon at Wimborne Road at the start of this month.
The reigning champions are five points off the play-off spots and Ford is pleased with that state of affairs.
Speaking ahead of tonight's home clash with King's Lynn (7.30pm), Ford said: "We still remain in touch with the leading pack, which, despite our lack of activity in recent weeks does surprise me a little.
"Once we get back into the groove, we should be able to push on.
"I am absolutely certain this team will be in the top four and I cannot imagine too many teams will want to take us on knowing how we can up our game."
Ford was speaking to the club website.
