WIMBORNE Town manager Matty Holmes is hoping to persuade ex-Hamworthy United boss Shane Traynor to join his backroom staff.

Traynor worked with Holmes at the Cherries Academy before taking charge of reserve-team affairs at the County Ground in the summer of 2014.

He was promoted to the top job after a short spell as caretaker boss following Stewart Kearn’s departure in December 2014.

Traynor’s only full season in charge of the first team was punctuated by a break for personal reasons and he resigned two weeks ago, stating he had taken the Hammers as far as he could.

And Holmes has acted quickly in a bid to secure the services of his former colleague.

“I am trying to get Shane in and we are speaking at the moment,” said Holmes.

“He is coming to help with a couple of sessions in June but we have to work out what he can and can’t do because he has a demanding job.

“Nothing official has been sorted yet, he is just going to drop in when he can for now but we are hoping to bring him in.

“Shane worked with me at AFC Bournemouth and did a really good job at Hamworthy.

“If I can work around his job, he will be a real asset to the club.”
