JAMES Hillier's preparation for the Isle of Man TT was cut short as he was forced out of the North West 200 in Northern Ireland.

The Quattro Plant Muc-Off Kawasaki rider suffered a spill in Saturday's superstock race which caused him to miss the remainder of the final day.

Hillier high-sided out of the action on University Corner and suffered slight concussion, ruling him out of further racing.

Prior to the spill, Hillier had finished seventh in the second supersport 600cc race, less than three seconds adrift of a podium position.

But the superstock crash meant the Ringwood ace missed out on valuable time in the two superbike races as well as the second superstock contest.

Hillier said: “I was pushing a bit too hard early in the superstock race. I was running a softer tyre and didn’t quite have the grip I needed.

"I thought I’d saved it and almost landed on the seat but then it went again and fired me over the top.

"I don’t think I was fully knocked out and felt absolutely fine but the rules are rules and I had to miss the rest of the races.

"It’s a real shame as I was saving myself a little bit for the superbike races but, fortunately, I’m okay and am looking forward to the TT now.

"I’m really happy with all the bikes and am feeling confident that we can get some good results on the island.”

The first practice for the Isle of Man TT is due to take place on Saturday, May 28.
