SUBSTITUTES Matt Ritchie, Callum Wilson and Joshua King helped turn the tide for Cherries as they came from behind to close their home campaign with a draw against West Brom.

Ritchie grabbed Cherries’ equaliser with a close-range header eight minutes from time, his effort cancelling out Salomon Rondon’s first-half opener for the Baggies.

Artur Boruc, who had been at fault in the lead up to West Brom’s goal, atoned when he superbly saved a Craig Gardner penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Bournemouth Echo:

The introduction of Wilson and King breathed new life into Cherries during what was an often-tepid affair, while Ritchie came off the bench to salvage a share of the spoils.

Max Gradel, Junior Stanislas, Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban were all recalled as boss Eddie Howe made four changes to the Cherries starting line-up.

The Baggies created the first opportunity when Craig Dawson’s low shot from distance was turned past the post by Gardner.

Bournemouth Echo:

Gradel, who looked lively during the early stages, saw his pot-shot saved at his near post by West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The visitors took the lead when Rondon stole a yard on Steve Cook to meet a cross from Jonny Evans, the Venezuelan planting a firm header past Boruc.

Boruc had been culpable in the lead up to the goal with his poor clearance going straight to Jonathan Leko who fed the ball to Evans on the left flank.

Bournemouth Echo:

Gradel looked for a quick response, only to see his shot take a deflection and go for a corner.

Harry Arter escaped punishment when he reacted angrily after he had been caught by a Gareth McAuley challenge before Boruc dived full length to his right to push Gardner’s 20-yarder past the post.

Referee Mark Clattenburg pointed to the spot after Dawson had gone to ground under a Tommy Elphick challenge on the stroke of half-time with the Cherries skipper earning a booking.

But Boruc guessed correctly and pulled off a top-drawer save from Gardner’s penalty before the Polish stopper quickly got to his feet to claw away the rebound after Cook had kicked the ball on to the West Brom man.

Bournemouth Echo:

As Cherries looked to make the most of their good fortune, Afobe’s bicycle kick flashed narrowly wide at the end of the first half.

Chances were also few and far between early in the second half with an effort by Stanislas clutched by Foster.

Stanislas wasted a good chance to test Foster when his tame free-kick was easily gathered by the Baggies goalkeeper.

Wilson, on as a 60th-minute replacement for Afobe, fired wide from a tight angle after turning his marker on the edge of the box.

Bournemouth Echo:

Rondon headed wide from a James McClean cross before Grabban’s cross-shot was plucked from under the crossbar by Foster.

Baggies substitute Saido Berahino saw his shot blocked following a cut-back from Rondon before Cherries levelled through Ritchie eight minutes from time.

The winger arrived to head home from close range after Baggies midfielder Claudio Yacob had inadvertently nodded Cook’s long throw into his path.

As Cherries went in search of a quick second, King’s fizzing effort was caught by Foster before Dawson saw his drive come back off the base of the post.

In a frantic finish, Boruc pouched a low shot from Berahino.
