CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe has admitted Adam Smith’s season is over.
Smith has not played for the Vitality Stadium side since being forced off in the 4-0 defeat to Manchester City at the beginning of April.
And now Howe has revealed the versatile full-back’s focus is on recovering from his groin injury and getting fit ahead of pre-season.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with West Brom, Howe said: “Adam won’t play again this season.
“He has been to see various specialists to make sure we get the right course of treatment because the summer is a big one for him.
“We need to make sure he is back in pre-season and fit. That’s our main concern now.”
Howe stated that winger Max Gradel was improving following a calf problem.
The Ivorian’s last Premier League appearance was in the 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool in mid-April.
Howe said: “Maxi’s trained this week so he is making good progress.”
The boss added that experienced defender Sylvain Distin was unlikely to play again this season due to a back complaint.
