WESSEX VC’s under-18 men and women will be looking to complete an historic quadruple at the Grand Prix finals on Saturday.

Both teams won their respective National Cup competitions at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering and now face matches against London-based Malory in their bid for the clean sweep.

The club trains twice per week but many of its stars attend the Volleyball England Academy at the LeAF Studio, Bournemouth, on a daily basis.

Chairman Geoff Allan said: “Wessex Volleyball Club is in its 40th year and has always prided itself on its strong junior programmes.

“It would be fantastic if the under-18s could complete this unique achievement in the club’s anniversary year.”

Representing Poole and Bournemouth, Wessex Volleyball is one of the top clubs in the country, with men’s and women’s senior teams playing in Volleyball England’s top division, the Super 8’s.

The club also boasts one of the best junior programmes in the country, with their boys and girls regularly winning national titles.

In the National Cup, the men beat Essex outfit Boswells Blaze 3-0, while their female counterparts overcame North Devon-based Academy of Beach Sports 3-1.
