KYLE Newman's Poole Pirates return has been put on hold after the reserve was admitted to hospital last night.

In a post on his website, it was confirmed the Pirates charger had suffered a "fireball infection" relating to his recent groin complaint and remains in Royal Bournemouth Hospital for tests.

Pirates chief Matt Ford said: "I had a call this morning advising that Kyle had a very high temperature as a consequence to the ongoing problems that he thought he had recovered from. He was admitted to hospital overnight.

"Our thoughts are very much with him and hopefully, he can receive the treatment he needs and get back to full health."
