SCOTT Mitchell ventures into uncharted territory when he finally makes his bow in the Denmark Open and Masters this weekend.

The 2015 BDO world champion will be joined by Dorset’s former-England youth international Thomas Chant at the Granily Hockey Arena, Esbjerg.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo: “There will be a good field and I am glad to finally tick off what is regarded as one of the traditional events on the calendar.

“It is known for being one of the more expensive ones in terms of overall cost so maybe that’s why I haven’t ended up doing it in the past!

“I have always had the ranking points and because I have my place at Lakeside 2017, it is all about building up my form now.”

On the emergence of Ferndown-based Chant, Mitchell added: “He has been doing a few tournaments this year. He is still on his learning curve but hopefully, he is building towards being Dorset’s star of the future.”

Tomorrow’s Denmark Open is a Category A tournament with £3,000 up for grabs for the men’s singles winner. The Denmark Masters takes place on Sunday with a top prize of £2,000.

Mitchell then has a free weekend before heading to the Welsh Open at Pontins, Prestatyn Sands in a fortnight’s time.
