BOSS Simon Browne is trying to lure crowd favourite Jason Harvell out of retirement to answer Wimborne’s goalkeeping SOS.

With Shane Murphy's return to Dorchester Town confirmed this morning, Magpies are without a stopper for tomorrow’s trip to North Leigh in Southern South & West (3pm).

Browne confirmed he had left Harvell, 29, who quit semi-professional football in December, a message as well as enquiring about the availability of Weymouth’s Steve Boore.

Jordan Tewkesbury, who studies in Plymouth but is likely to be back at home in Weymouth this weekend, is registered with Wimborne and may step into the breach.

“We are desperately trying to arrange something at the moment and I am quite hopeful of getting someone but time is ticking away,” said Browne.

“Ironically, I may have a squad of 19 players but no keeper!”

Winger Carl Preston, a target for Blackfield & Langley, has yet to inform Browne of his plans but the boss anticipates no further exits ahead of the weekend.

“I don’t think anyone is going to disappear before the weekend because it is too short notice to go anywhere else but whether that changes, who knows? In financial situations like ours, it is always on a knife edge.”

Taylor Leonard, a member of Poole Town’s under-21 squad, has signed for Wimborne, while Sam Bayston returns from a foot injury.
