MARC Pugh reckons mesmerising goals like his opener for Cherries at Crystal Palace form a crucial part of his artillery.

The 28-year-old box of tricks befuddled marker Scott Dann before finding the bottom corner to cancel out the Palace defender’s opener in Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.

It marked goals in back-to-back matches for Pugh, who admitted his use of style over speed could prove crucial in his quest to play regularly in the Premier League.

On his goal, Pugh told the Daily Echo: “I try it in training a lot. It’s something I have to work on because I don’t have the explosive pace like other wingers.

“It was a trademark goal for me and I was delighted with it. I caught it sweetly and have scored in my past two matches so long may that continue.

Victory over Palace, defeats for fellow strugglers Norwich, Sunderland and Aston Villa and a draw between West Brom and Swansea provided Cherries with the perfect set of results with Pugh keen to look up rather than down the table.

“We have had some memorable wins and away days like this have been important to us,” added Pugh. “We’re closer to the top seven than we are the drop now so who knows where this can take us. We have to show confidence.”
