FRONTMEN Callum Wilson and Max Gradel have both been named in Cherries’ 25-man Premier League squad – but there is no place for Tokelo Rantie.

Boss Eddie Howe had to re-declare his pool of players for the final 15 games of the season once the transfer window had closed last night.

Wilson and Gradel have both been sidelined by serious knee injuries since the opening weeks of the season but are on the road to recovery.

And winger Gradel recently took to social media to suggest he could be back in action for Cherries’ trip to Watford at the end of the month.

Gradel, a £7million summer signing from St Etienne, ruptured his cruciate ligament in just his fourth top-flight appearance for the club against Leicester in August.

Wilson, leading goalscorer in the club’s promotion campaign, had netted five goals in Cherries’ first six games of the season before he suffered a similar fate at Stoke in September.

And while the 23-year-old marksman is behind Gradel in his rehabilitation, he is on course to play some part in the remainder of the season and could be back next month.

However, fellow striker Rantie will this season not add to his three substitute appearances in the Premier League, having been omitted from the new squad.

Rantie has been out of action since taking a heavy blow to his shin during the first half of Cherries’ FA Cup third round win at Birmingham last month.

And although it was first thought the injury was not too serious, a scan later revealed he had damaged the bone, keeping him out for between six to eight weeks.

The 25-year-old, who has another 17 months to run on a four-year contract, has returned home to South Africa to recuperate before starting his rehabilitation.

With Cherries having significantly boosted their firepower options during the window by bringing in Benik Afobe, Lewis Grabban and Juan Iturbe, Rantie would probably have struggled for a place.

The five changes to the squad from the one named at the start of September see Gradel, Afobe, Grabban, Iturbe and Rhoys Wiggins replace Rantie, Lee Tomlin, Yann Kermorgant, Christian Atsu and Joe Bennett.

Despite joining Wycombe on loan, Ryan Allsop has been named as one of three goalkeepers as Cherries have a 24-hour recall.
