CONNOR Doe’s late winner kept the Bournemouth Poppies points tally ticking over healthily, sealing a 2-1 victory over Brockenhurst at Victoria Park.

A run of four straight Sydnehams Wessex League Premier Division victories had hauled Poppies away from the relegation dogfight before back-to-back 4-1 beatings by Blackfield & Langley and Cowes Sports.

However, with Saturday’s match deadlocked at 1-1 with seven minutes to go, Doe popped up to round off stellar work by frontman Martin Warren to secure a seventh league success of the campaign.

The sides had traded blows in the opening 20 minutes with former-Brock striker Kabba Jack notching his eighth in six league outings since joining Poppies early on. Ryan Long restored parity for the visitors.

Victory saw Poppies leapfrog Brock in the table, jumping two places to 13th ahead of a two-week break for Ken Vaughan’s men.

Porous Lymington were consigned to a fourth straight defeat in all competitions as Bemerton ran riot at the Sports Ground.

Jack Lovell, Jack Slade, Will Robinson and ex-Wimborne winger Sam Griffin all netted as Graham Kemp’s Harlequins racked up a 4-0 triumph.

Lymo, who have shipped no fewer than 14 goals during their recent dip, remain eighth in the Premier Division.

Elsewhere, Hamworthy United’s trip to Fareham Town fell victim to the weather.

  • New Milton Town’s tribulations near the foot of Sydenhams Wessex Division One continued with a 2-0 reverse at Alton Town.

Luke Perkins bagged the decisive brace for the hosts, managed by former Poole Town striker Michael Charles.

The Linnets drop to 14th in the table following Totton & Eling’s seven-goal rampage at Andover New Street.
