BOSS Ken Vaughan is having to reassess his targets for resurgent Bournemouth Poppies after a fourth straight Sydenhams Wessex League victory.

Poppies had been perilously placed among the Premier Division stragglers before a December hot streak.

Having trumped Alresford, Verwood and Hamworthy United, Vaughan’s men battled back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Lymington on Saturday.

The win lifted Poppies to 13th and 12 points clear of the relegation places, prompting Vaughan to reconsider his expectations.

Vaughan told the Daily Echo: “We started the season knowing the table would be in three sections and targeted being top of that bottom third but hopefully we can keep our form going and I think mid-table could be within reach.

“With the resources we have, I think that would be acceptable but having said that, who knows? If we can get on a roll we might surprise ourselves.

“Now we have a few things ironed out, if we can keep this side settled then I am confident we can get there. The trouble is getting the same players out every week but at the moment, we are doing that.”

Darren Ritchie scored a penalty for Lymo but Lamin Dibba, who gave away the spot-kick, hit back before free-scoring striker Kabba Jack settled matters after the interval.
