UNLIKELY lad Graeme Rose could have fired himself into the record books after performing an incredible goalscoring feat for Swanage Town & Herston.

The Poole-based frontman has hit four hat-tricks in a row for the Dorset Premier League side, equalling the mark set by former Japan international Masashi Nakayama in 1998.

Nakayama registered no fewer than 16 efforts in four games for Jubilo Iwata in the J League with his scoring heroics now recognised in Guinness World Records.

Rose banked trebles against Cranborne, Blandford United in the DPL Cup and Westland Sports before he bagged another hat-trick in Swans' 6-0 thrashing of Bridport reserves at Day's Park on Saturday, which included a penalty.

The 29-year-old, a project manager for insurance company LV=, could become the outright world-record holder when Swans meet Hamworthy United reserves at the County Ground on Saturday, January 2.

Rose, who has 15 goals in as many appearances this term, was alerted to his feat by Tim Brown after the Swans boss had been contacted by the Daily Echo yesterday.

The in-form Rose said: "It would be unbelievable to be included in Guinness World Records. I never thought I'd get close to getting in it unless it was for something completely wacky!

"To equal the record is amazing. I've scored hat-tricks before but never more than one at a time. It's strange how things have fallen to me in recent games and it's something I can't really explain.

"But we're on a great run of seven league wins in a row at the moment and that is definitely a massive factor, so I've got to give credit to the rest of the boys."

Reflecting on another potential treble against Hamworthy reserves, ex-Merley striker Rose added: "In some respects, Hamworthy is a big game now but I'm going to try not to think too much about it. I will just see how it goes.

"If it happens, it happens but I will just try to treat the game as normal."

Swans manager Brown added: "Graeme has been fantastic for us, although it was probably his worst game of the four on Saturday!

"He will be quiet for 30 minutes then in the next 10 minutes he'll bang two goals in. If you give him a chance, he'll find the back of the net.

"It would be absolutely brilliant to have a recognised joint world-record holder at the club and I'm chuffed for him."

Also scoring against nine-man Bridport were Chris Woods (2) and Paul Best, the former including a penalty in his brace.

Swans: Beeston, Carpenter (Lovell, 60), P Best, Arthur, Yerby, Harrop, Harding, Robinson (Richards, 75), Woods, Rose, Beale.
