CHAIRMAN Ken Stewart has admitted the race for the Wimborne Town manager's role is "very tight" as Magpies prepare to make a final decision.

The board of directors is due to meet tomorrow to decide which of the four interviewed candidates they will nominate to take over from Steve Cuss.

A decision had been due today but discussions were delayed.

FA Vase-winner Taffy Richardson, Poole Town number two James Wood and former Dorchester Town bosses Phil Simkin and Ashley Vickers were among those to throw their hats into the ring in the first instance.

Stewart told the Daily Echo: "We had 11 applicants and the quality of the applicants has been very high.

"It is going to be a tough decision because the four candidates that we interviewed were of a very high standard.

"They have all got their own ideas as to how the club can progress and the successful candidate will be the one that fits in with the directors' way of thinking.

"I can honestly say that at the moment, it's very tight."
