TOMAS Andrade today penned a season-long loan deal at Cherries just weeks after Everton had rejected the chance to sign the youngster.

The 19-year-old playmaker had been poised to join the Toffees from Argentine club River Plate but boss Roberto Martinez elected not to pursue his initial interest following a trial period.

Andrade was subsequently linked with Serie A outfit Genoa but it was Cherries that wrapped up a loan swoop for the attacking midfielder, with the switch subject to international clearance.

Should the youngster impress for Stephen Purches’s under-21s side, it is believed he could sign on a permanent basis for around £3.5million.

Andrade, who possesses an Italian passport, was part of the River Plate side that won the World Under-17 Club Championship in Madrid two years ago.

River defeated Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on the way to tournament victory and Andrade’s exploits were such that he was voted player of the tournament.

He had previously undergone trials with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as a 10-year-old after impressing for Buenos Aires-based outfit Club Atlético Lanus.

But the homesick youngster decided to return to Argentina and subsequently progressed through the youth ranks at River.
