A CLUTCH of current and former Pirates riders are set to compete in the Grand Prix Challenge following the latest qualifying rounds.

Kacper Gomolski is set to race at the showpiece event in Rybnik, Poland on September 5 after he secured progress by the skin of his teeth.

The Pole bagged eight points before finishing second in a three-way run-off for sixth place at a rain-soaked Terenzano.

Pirates star Dakota North missed out after totalling seven points at Riga, Latvia, the Aussie falling on his final ride.

Among the ex-Poole riders to advance from both venues were Shamek Pawlicki, Vaclav Milik, Leon Madsen and Antonio Lindback, the latter of which has been handed a wild card for next month's Swedish GP.

The top three in the Grand Prix Challenge will be guaranteed a permanent slot in the 2016 world championship.

Grand Prix Challenge line-up: Nicolas Covatti, Shamek Pawlicki, Piotr Pawlicki, Vaclav Milik, Chris Harris, Freddie Lindgren, Kacper Gomolski, Leon Madsen, Andrey Karpov, Kasts Puodzuks, Aleksandr Loktaev, Linus Sundstrom, Antonio Lindback, Maksims Bogdanovs, two wild cards to be confirmed.
