RISING star Georgia Hall is relishing the chance to compete in the $4million US Women's Open – two years after she turned down an invitation to take part.

The Bournemouth golfer is next month set to compete in her first Major as a professional after profiting from the withdrawal of 1998 champion Se Ri Pak.

Hall, 19, thought she had missed out on a spot in the prestigious event when she failed to come through a play-off at Buckinghamshire Golf Club at the end of May.

However, Pak's withdrawal left the path clear for Hall to take her place in the field at Lancaster Country Club, Pennsylvania from July 9-12.

It was a sweet turn of events for the Ladies European Tour rookie, who, in 2013, had passed up an opportunity to play in the event off the back of her British Amateur Championship triumph due to concerns over finance, timescale and a prior commitment to play in the Vagliano Trophy.

She told the Daily Echo: "It was really hard to turn down the US Open before so I'm really glad it worked out this time. I have always wanted to play in it and given that I couldn't make it last time, it makes it a lot better that I can go now.

"To play as a professional in the US Open is really big. I would say it's the second biggest competition in ladies' golf and it's absolutely massive for me.

"I was really disappointed when I didn't get in through the qualifier last month so it's lovely that it has gone my way. I'm happy that I've gone through the qualifying process and have got in that way rather than being invited.

"This time I'm professional and two years ago I was an amateur so it was a lot harder for me to get sponsors on board. While it's still hard to get sponsors, I can go this time and I'm really looking forward to it.

"This time, it feels 100 per cent better than when I was an amateur."

Hall missed the cut when she played in the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills two years ago and she has also featured across the pond in the Curtis Cup and Junior Solheim Cup.

The teenager does not plan to change her tour schedule as a result of her forthcoming trip to the United States.

She is due to compete at the European Masters at Buckinghamshire Golf Club, which starts on Thursday, July 2, and will jet out the day after the tournament concludes.
