EXPERIENCED striker Yann Kermorgant revealed plans to end his career at Cherries before targeting at least two more years in the professional game.

The 33-year-old Frenchman has been a runaway success since his arrival from Charlton in January last year, netting 26 goals in 58 appearances in all competitions.

Kermorgant has a year to run on his current deal but is keen to extend his stay at Dean Court and remain at the club until at least the summer of 2017.

He told the Daily Echo: “I want to finish my career at Bournemouth and, when I stop playing, I will move back to France and start a new job.

“Hopefully, I will get another year extension on my current deal at Bournemouth, so if I can, I will stay two more years.

“My target is to play for at least two more years and I feel I could do that at the top level. After that, I will see how my body is and if I am still okay to play.

“But at the moment I just hope to get another contract extension.

If I play two more years and retire after that, I will be happy.”

Kermorgant, who is nicknamed the Beast from Brittany, was an interested party when Cherries unveiled their pre-season friendly against Ligue One outfit Nantes.

The fixture on Saturday, July 25 will be played at Saint-Nazaire’s Stade Léo Lagrange, around 50 miles from Kermorgant’s home town of Vannes.

And the former Leicester striker admitted that the location of the fixture had led to a higherthan-usual demand for tickets among his friends and family.

Kermorgant said: “I stay with my wife and son in Vannes over the summer and of course we know a lot of people there.

“It only takes about an hour to get to Nantes so it is quite close and we require a lot of tickets for the game!

“I have received a lot of interest from friends and family so it could be at least 20 or 30 tickets if I get one for everyone.

“Some are people I played alongside in the past and some are people I knew when I was younger, so it’s a good occasion for them to have a look at Bournemouth.”

The trip to Nantes is due to be Cherries’ third pre-season fixture ahead of their inaugural Premier League campaign.

The preparations of Eddie Howe’s men will begin in earnest with a nine-day training camp in the United States, culminating in a warm-up game against Major League Soccer outfit Philadelphia Union on Tuesday, July 14.

Cherries then head to Exeter, Nantes and Yeovil before taking on Cardiff in their only home clash of pre-season on July 31. A trip to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim on August 1 will complete Cherries’ warm-up fixtures.
