POOLE Pirates asset Darcy Ward did not file an appeal against his 10-month ban, global speedway chiefs have confirmed.

In a statement released yesterday, the Federation International de Motocyclisme (FIM) said the decision to prevent Ward from competing following his failed alcohol test at the Latvian Grand Prix had been made final.

It read: "The FIM International Disciplinary Court (CDI) notified its full reasoned decision to the parties on 7 April 2015.

"No appeal against the decision of the CDI was lodged by the parties before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, within 21 days of the date of receipt of the full decision pursuant to article 13.6 of the 2014 FIM Anti-Doping Code."

Ward can resume his racing career from midnight on June 27, 2015 with Poole promoter Matt Ford keen for him to get back on a bike quickly – wherever that may be.

In an interview with the Daily Echo last week, Ford said: “Darcy is always going to be important to this club and if he doesn’t get in here, we’ll do our utmost to make sure he fits in somewhere else because we want him riding."

Ward was unavailable for comment yesterday.
