BOSS Tom Killick boldly claimed Poole had a “better” side than title rivals Corby then challenged his troops to go and prove it.

The Southern League championship rests on Saturday’s tantalising showdown at Tatnam (3pm) with the Dolphins in front of the Steelmen on goal difference going into the last-day head-to-head.

Poole’s 0-0 draw at Weymouth on Tuesday left the hosts needing only a draw while Corby would take the crown and promotion to the Football Conference if they were to triumph.

Killick backed his players to see the job through and told the Daily Echo: “You don’t know how the game is going to pan out.

It might be a game of few chances that gets settled by a mistake or a moment of magic or it could be really open.

“We have played them three times this season so both teams will have gathered a lot of knowledge and we have to carefully consider what our approach will be.

“The emphasis has probably shifted because a draw would be sufficient for us and you would imagine that could impact on how Corby set up.

“I don’t think they will vary it too much. They have a big threat in wide areas and pace all over the park. They are a strong side but I feel we are better and have to try to prove it.”
