TOMMY Elphick has urged his team-mates to embrace the challenge of trying to get Cherries over the promotion winning line.

Speaking following Cherries’ 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, Elphick said: “Initially, it was a bit of a kick in the teeth but we are second with two games to go and it is a huge opportunity to make plenty of people’s dreams come true.

“We were pleased to go in front having gone down to 10 men. We stuck to our principles, kept passing the ball and players came off the bench to make an impact so there were plenty of positives.

“We still realise we need to improve a bit and I didn’t think we were quite our devastating selves like we have been this season.

“I think there is too much talk about pressure getting to people. The Championship is a long, hard season. For me, pressure is being at the bottom and the possibility of losing money and struggling to pay mortgages and stuff like that by getting relegated.

“This is something we should be embracing, relishing and trying to meet head-on. Two wins would get us promoted and that is all we are concentrating on.

“There were plenty of positives but there are plenty of improvements to be made if we are to take maximum points from the two games.”
