CHERRIES manager Eddie Howe has been named the Football League’s manager of the decade at the 2015 Football League awards.

The prestigious gong was handed out to mark the 10th anniversary of the awards with Howe bestowed with the honour of best boss.

Howe told the club website: “I am really proud. It was not something I expected and when you consider all the managers that have been in the Football League over the past 10 years, it is a huge honour.

“I was very surprised and honoured even to have been considered. I am very thankful to all the players I have managed and the club for giving me the job in the first place.

“It is always about the team of people you have working with you and I am incredibly lucky to have Jason (Tindall, assistant manager) by my side, the staff that we have and of course the players. They are the most important people and the ones who win you games.

“Off the pitch we are very lucky to have a terrific team above us as well. The chairman, the chief executive and the owner have all been tremendous pillars of support and you cannot forget the supporters who are the biggest part of any team.

“They have been brilliant with me ever since I became manager and even in my time as a player. They have never lost support and that means the world to me."
