AN air of doom and gloom is the last thing to be found hanging around Bellshill Athletic's dressing room on the back of their heaviest defeat of the season.

Tam McDonald and his playing charges were understandably left reeling from last weekend's 4-0 beating at home by Rob Roy.

However, ahead of facing Irvine Meadow tomorrow, Rambo said: "We played some decent stuff last week, but paid the price for not taking our chances, while Rob Roy were absolutely clinical in tucking away theirs.

"My players had countless near things, missed some sitters, hit woodwork and even failed from the penalty spot, so looking back I would say it was one of those days when we were fated never to score."

One of the Lanarkshire contingent with an extra motivation for wanting to help his team back to winning ways is towering stopper Ryan Jordan, making his first visit back to Irvine Meadow since an ill-advised 2006 transfer deal took him to the Ayrshire kingpins from Petershill ... for all of four weeks!

He said: "Going back to Meadow Park is not a prospect that frightens me in the slightest as I have nothing to prove to anyone.

"I went there with the best of intentions but didn't like it and wanted out as soon as possible.

"Yes, I expect to get a bit of stick from supporters, but that's only to be expected. I will take it on the chin and try to play to my best and show them what they are missing."

Medda counterpart Stevie Swift has admitted he and his team-mates are feeling the pressure brought about by the high expectations of supporters.

He said: "We can sense the burning desire from fans wanting us to win each and every time we run out on to the pitch.

"It's great if we take the lead in games because they then back us to the hilt and certain players thrive on it, however the complete opposite applies if the chips are down like in last week's defeat by Beith. Some of the scathing comments were unwarranted and had the effect of making players hide rather than be open to abuse for making mistakes.

"Hopefully tomorrow the fans will get right behind us and we can reward them with one of our better performances"

Meanwhile, word has it that SPL outfit Hamilton Accies are poised to allow striker Brian Carrigan out on loan and his former Junior club Linlithgow Rose are strong favourites to snap him up.

But sources through there believe Carrott's close relationship with ex-Rose gaffer Jim Sinnett could temp him West - possibly to play for West Region champions Pollok?

And finally, Ayr have acted to hone preparations for next week's Scottish Cup joust away to Junior football's only survivors, Lochee United, by fixing up a friendly against Rutherglen Glencairn at New Southcroft Park on Monday (7pm). TOMORROW'S FIXTURES
