DEMANDING Poole Town boss Tom Killick has targeted a century of points to see off Corby Town's resurgent challenge for the Southern League title.

The Steelmen, who visit Tatnam on the final day of the season, hit the Premier Division summit with a 3-1 victory over bottom club Burnham on Saturday while Dolphins were kicking their heels.

Poole are one point behind their rivals with four games in hand and can reclaim top spot with any kind of return from tonight's trip to Biggleswade Town (7.45pm).

But with Corby racking up 37 points from 15 games since the start of December, Killick is keen for his charges to keep matters firmly in their own hands.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “Corby can still reach 99 points and, alongside Weymouth, I still see them as our closest challengers.

“If we were to win 10 out of 13 games then that would be it. How many fewer than that it turns out to be is down to Corby.

“At this stage, you do start to look beyond the next game and at who your rivals are playing but it is important not to lose focus on the game immediately approaching you.

“For us, that's Biggleswade and we just have to concentrate on getting the right result. Psychologically, it would be nice to go back to the top of the league by taking advantage of one of those four games in hand.”

On Biggleswade, Killick added: “They recently beat Corby and there is no doubt they will be difficult opponents. Looking at our fixtures, we still have a number of tricky encounters and this is certainly one of them.”

Harrison Gilkes remains a doubt but Cherries development squad winger Mason Walsh could be involved subject to the completion of paperwork. Loan winger Ben Close has returned to Portsmouth.
