ASSISTANT manager Jason Tindall believes Cherries winger Matt Ritchie will benefit from having been rested.

Ritchie was named on the bench for Cherries’ clash with Blackburn on Saturday and came on as a 56th-minute replacement for Marc Pugh.

The 25-year-old, who has featured in every league game this season, had made 28 consecutive starts in the Championship, his only other substitute appearance coming in the 1-1 draw at Norwich in August.

Tindall told the Daily Echo: “We are playing a game almost every three days at the moment and the schedule is really demanding, especially when you get to this stage of the season.

“The demands on the majority of the players are huge so we have to be careful in terms of not burning out anyone and trying to freshen it up where we feel we can.

“Ryan Fraser has come in and done extremely well and we felt it was an opportunity where we could give Matty a bit of a breather to recharge his batteries.

“He has looked a little tired in the past couple of games so I am sure he will benefit from the rest he has had.”
