NEW Milton Town boss Callum Brooks said he could understand the reasoning behind Elliot Head’s decision to join Sydenhams Wessex One rivals Hythe & Dibden.

Head had been struggling to hold down a regular first-team place with the Linnets and last week opted to switch camps having spent 18 months at Fawcett’s Field.

The former Cherries Academy player had been restricted to 17 appearances for Milton this season, having netted twice in 27 games last season.

Head had slipped down the pecking order as Brooks bolstered his midfield resources in an attempt to strengthen the Linnets for the second-half of the campaign.

In an interview with South Coast Journalism, Brooks said: “He enjoyed his season-and-a-half with us and we wish him all the best.

“He has been a pleasure to work with and has been a positive influence on the club during his time here. “He left on good terms and, after talking with him, I also agreed with and saw his reasons for moving on.

“I have brought in some class players to the midfield area lately and Els wasn’t getting quite as much game-time as he enjoyed last season.

“He felt, in his position, he needed to be on the pitch more regularly and, therefore, decided the time had come for a new challenge.”

Meanwhile, Elliot Peck bagged the only goal of the game as Ringwood Town registered their first victory of 2015 and completed a Wessex One double over Pewsey Vale yesterday.

Peck was on target in the 32nd minute at Vale’s Ball Road headquarters, his effort settling an often scrappy affair in favour of the visitors.

Ringwood, knocked out of the Russell-Cotes Cup and the Wessex League Cup since the turn of the year, beat Pewsey Vale 2-1 at Long Lane in November.
