SHOULD Blackpool’s mini-revival continue, manager Lee Clark could be tempted to join the queue at the Pleasure Beach.

Shortly after taking over at the end of October, Clark vowed to conquer his fear of rollercoasters and said he would take a ride on The Big One if they were to avoid relegation.

At the time of his appointment, the Seasiders were seven points adrift of safety at the foot of the Championship having mustered only six points from their first 14 games.

Although the gap has in-creased to eight points, Blackpool have shown signs of improvement under Clark and are unbeaten in their past four games.

The run has included a second win of the season, a 1-0 home victory against Birmingham, the club which sacked Clark 10 days before he was unveiled at Bloomfield Road.

Either side of the Birmingham triumph, Blackpool drew 2-2 at Charlton and 1-1 at Rotherham, while Lee Chung-yong’s late equaliser denied them a win as Bolton forced a 1-1 draw.

Clark has set Blackpool a festive target and wants them to be within touching distance of their relegation rivals by the turn of the year.

Following Cherries’ visit to Bloomfield Road, they travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day before hosting Rotherham a week on Sunday.

“If we can get at those teams, psychologically, it will be big for us,” he told the Blackpool Gazette. “We have to keep chipping away and, when results do go our way, we need to do our job.

“The gap didn’t close on fourth bottom last weekend but we are getting other teams closer to us.

“We still need to turn draws into three points, but we made up another point on a couple of teams above us. We got a step closer to Wigan and Brighton and want to close that gap.

“We are chipping away and giving ourselves a chance and want to be within touching distance come the new year.”
