MATT Newbery and Dan Hiscock both netted twice as Parley gained instant revenge for their shock defeat at the hands of strugglers Hamworthy United reserves.

Parley, beaten 1-0 by the Hammers seven days earlier, ran out convincing 6-2 winners with Toby Holmes and Dan Mardy also on target, while Sam Carr and a Barney Gritt own goal replied.

Parley boss Adi Trimby said: “We slipped on the proverbial banana skin at Hamworthy last week and it served us right.

“It was a really important lesson learned by our good, but sometimes, naive young players. The chance to play this same team this week was a good opportunity to see if the team had listened and learned.

“I was relieved and satisfied to say it was a good lesson learned. We worked hard, played well and all our goals were of top quality. Barney’s own goal was arguably the best finish of the lot!”

Parley: Jones, Cook, Mardy, Britten (Wilson, 60), Hickford (White, 60), Gritt, Bailey-Pearce, Trimby, Hiscock (Pratt, 65), Holmes, Newbery.

  • Elsewhere, goals from Henry Akinsuyi, Keiron Mulvey, Mark Ford and Luke Crane failed to save Blandford United from a 5-4 home defeat by Westland Sports.

And Lee Orchard’s 57th-minute opener for Sturminster Marshall was cancelled out by Tom Willis’s late leveller as Hamworthy Recreation had to settle for a 1-1 draw after hitting the woodwork on no fewer than three occasions.
