BASHLEY are on the brink of naming a permanent manager following a search of more than three weeks.

Graham Speechley-Price stood down at the start of November in order to focus on commercial matters alongside chairman and wife Angela at Bashley Road.

Former reserve team boss Martin Spiers took charge of the Southern South & West side on a temporary basis and oversaw the final game of his interim spell on Saturday, an 11-0 defeat at North Leigh.

Interviews were conducted by Bash last week and the club’s official Twitter feed said a new manager would “be announced after meeting the players on Tuesday evening”.

The candidate given the nod by the Bash hierarchy will inherit a side currently on a run of seven league defeats on a trot, with 36 goals conceded in that spell and just one scored.

Saturday’s result at mid-table North Leigh was a particular disappointment given the hefty margin of defeat.

Jamie Cook scored the first goal after two minutes and Jon Else made it two shortly after.

Midway through the half, Aaron Woodley rounded Callum Maher to make it 3-0 and an Andy Gunn header increased the misery.

Cook bagged his hat-trick with two efforts in the lead-up to half-time and the onslaught continued after the break.

Else converted from close range and Elliott Osborne-Ricketts made it 8-0 minutes later.

Brian Bowles got in on the act and in the final 10 minutes, Michael Hopkins and Conor Ingram rounded off the scoring.
