MANNY Soetan plundered a debut hat-trick as Lymington Town crushed Wessex Premier rivals Horndean 4-0 to avenge their recent FA Vase defeat.
Soetan ensured the tables would be turned at Five Heads Park after the Deans had won 5-0 at Lymington Sports Ground in a second preliminary round replay just 11 days previously.
He opened the scoring following a quick counter-attack midway through the first half before doubling the visitors’ lead after intercepting a poor back-pass on the stroke of half-time.
Soetan completed the rout after Sam Roberts had made it 3-0 in a second half dominated by John Pyatt’s men, although goalkeeper Stuart Williamson was forced to pull off one great save to preserve his clean sheet.
Russell Cook, left, gave Hamworthy United a 13th-minute lead against Newport at St George’s Park, only for the high-flying Islanders to come back through Scott Jones and Liam Triggs to secure a 2-1 victory.
Struggling Verwood Town were hit for five for the second time in five days with leaders Petersfield Town running out 5-1 winners at Love Lane where Thomas Whelan |bagged the Potters’ consolation.
Verwood, beaten 5-0 at Blackfield & Langley in midweek, have now taken just one point from their past five league games.
Debutant Diop Evans scored with his first touch but Bournemouth Poppies were still held to a 1-1 draw at Fareham.
Substitute Jordan Neal levelled for the hosts with 10 minutes to play, while Poppies midfielder Elliot Ward was sent off during the dying embers having picked up a second yellow card for |dissent.
In Wessex One, New Milton Town came from behind to record a 3-1 win over lowly Downton at Fawcett’s Field.
Goals from Sam Bayston, Kabba Jack and Bryce Banfield cancelled out Dan Telfer’s second-minute opener for the Wiltshire outfit.
Ringwood Town suffered a 5-0 defeat at Amesbury Town.
