MANAGER Eddie Howe has tasked his Cherries squad with trying to “build some momentum” during a hectic spell of the season.

Cherries kick-off a run of seven games in 22 days when they host unbeaten Championship rivals Charlton at Dean Court tomorrow.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “We have looked at this run and know it is a very congested period for us but also a very important one.

"When you are playing Saturday-Tuesday, as we have for most of the season, you have to get your training loads right and make sure the players recover.

“It is a period we can really look forward to. We have four home games which, hopefully, will suit us and if we can build some momentum at home, this is a crucial stage of the season to do it.”

Howe has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of the Addicks, although Charlton old boy Yann Kermorgant starts a three-match ban following his controversial red card at Bolton.

Lee Camp returns following his one-game ban.

“I see it as an opportunity for someone else, whether that is a midfielder or a striker, to come in and show their worth to the team,” said Howe.

“It is why you have a squad. It is a big disappointment for us to be without Yann for three games and to lose his qualities.

"He did well at Bolton, albeit for a brief time, and I thought it was the sharpest he had looked this season. It is up to the team to make up for his absence and show we are still a strong outfit regardless of one or two individuals.”

Charlton will be bidding to extend their 11-match unbeaten start in the Championship, a run which has included wins against Derby, Wigan, Watford and Norwich.

“They have done very well this season,” added Howe.

“When you consider they have a new manager and changed a few players from last season, they have hit the ground running. They will be a tough nut to crack.

"Going unbeaten in the Championship for any period of time is a really good achievement.

“They have played and beaten some of the top sides and competed very well so it is no fluke. They are very competitive, well organised and well drilled so I expect a tough test.

“Their organisation and off-the-ball work ethic has been very strong and they are very disciplined, as you can see from their defensive record. You don’t achieve a clean sheet at Carrow Road without doing the basics right and they certainly did that.

“In Igor Vetokele, they have a striker who is in form and scoring goals. He has been impressive and has played up front on his own a lot of the time. Every good team needs a goalscorer and they certainly seem to have found one.”
