TIM Collier insists Chard’s struggles should not cross Bournemouth minds ahead of tomorrow’s clash at Chapel Gate (2.30pm).

Newly-promoted Chard have lost all six National Three South West fixtures this term and sit bottom of the standings.

The Somerset outfit have managed a paltry 15 points combined in three away matches, conceding 100 points in the process.

However, Lions player-coach Collier believes that paying attention to such statistics would be a mistake.

He told the Daily Echo: “We’re not really looking at where teams are in the league, we’re just focusing on ourselves. We’re looking for a performance and definitely a win.

“Throughout my career I have never really looked at the opposition we’re playing. If everyone beats their opposite number then you win the game.

“We just need to build on the Brixham game and correct the mistakes we made.

“We’ve worked hard on the set pieces because it wasn’t good last weekend – it was probably the forwards that let the backs down.

“If we can put both of those together, we should be a successful team.”

Lions have taken 10 points from their past three games and former Worcester Warriors man Collier says his team must at least double that total before the end of 2014.

He continued: “We’re going to need at least 20 points this side of Christmas if we’re going to survive.

“That doesn’t sound many but we only have five games before December and then three in that month.

“As long as we’re on 20-plus, we’ll be looking alright.”

Bournemouth will be without Jack Hennings due to a knee complaint.

Collier added: “Jack has been playing with fluid in his left knee and needs to manage it correctly. He didn’t train this week so, hopefully, it will settle down.”
