SWANAGE & Wareham’s flying start ensured their 100 per cent winning record was maintained with a 25-12 victory at North Dorset.

The visitors took charge through a pair of Charlie Rowberry tries within the first 11 minutes and never looked back, gathering their fourth bonus-point victory in a row to move two points clear at the Southern Counties South summit.

An incisive move from a scrum on the right saw the ball worked along the three-quarter line to Rowberry who pounced to score the opener after only four minutes.

Swans’ commanding position was rubber-stamped minutes later when a knock-on was punished and Rowberry was quickly in again, with fly-half Charlie Parish adding the extras.

Parish plundered a penalty on 27 minutes but North Dorset grabbed a lifeline shortly before the break, eventually forcing their way over the whitewash with a converted try following a series of phases in Swanage’s 22.

But the home side’s joy was short-lived as they succumbed to another scrum four minutes after the restart with scrum-half Chris Tomes landing the decisive touchdown.

And with 56 minutes on the clock, Swanage’s bonus point was guaranteed as Fijian debutant Veresa Valehei – a centre who was playing on the wing following an injury to Karl Barton – collected the ball and bustled his way through in the corner.

Elsewhere, Wimborne’s 100 per cent record was ended by a single penalty in a 3-0 defeat at previously-winless Frome. The result saw the Minstermen slip to fourth in the table.

In Dorset & Wilts One South, Dorset Dockers suffered their first league defeat in club history as table-toppers Sherborne II won 35-15 at Potterne Park. Oakmeadians drew 20-20 at home to Frome II, while Blandford lost 24-10 at Warminster.

Ellingham & Ringwood lost 38-29 to league leaders Eastleigh in London Three South West.

The Es picked up a four-try bonus point thanks to efforts from Ryan Selwood, Ali Bennett, Callum Butler and Charlie Cockram.
