MIDFIELDER Harry Arter admitted he had ‘looked forward’ to a weekend away from Dean Court ahead of Cherries’ 1-1 draw with Watford.
Arter, who opened the scoring with a long-range piledriver, was denied the game’s winning goal by a late volley from Craig Cathcart.
Discussing the impact of an away game, Arter said: “Not being disrespectful to the fans, but I was looking forward to playing in a different sort of atmosphere.
“I feel that in previous weeks, the psychological side of us going 1-0 up meant the crowd anticipat- ed we would sit back and maybe panicked a little bit.
"It was nice to come away and play in a different environment and I felt we put in a really good performance. If you look at the game as a whole, we played some really good stuff and deserved to win.
“Against Leeds and Rotherham it was a case of sitting back and inviting pressure on but on Saturday, Watford did not really have any clear-cut chances.
“The lad scored a great goal and sometimes you have to hold your hands up to those sorts of goals.”
Cherries were the first side to prevent Watford from winning a Championship fixture at Vicarage Road this season and Arter’s scorching strike lit up a rousing second half.
The former Woking man added: “I said to a couple of the lads before the game that I had a feeling I was going to score. I was playing in a more advanced role and I was pleased with the goal.”
