WIMBORNE AC will return to the top flight as South West League Division Two champions after victory in the final event at Yeovil.

The Dorset club took more than 70 athletes to the match, adding six of the eight trophies on offer to their league championship title.

Grace Copeland broke the under-15 1500m record in 4.37.92, while Martha Taylor set a new girls' best in the javelin (29m37).

Girls winners included Flo Lockwood (70m hurdles, 12.6) and Abi Lovering (long jump, 3m77).

Rob Hughes, meanwhile, won the under-13 boys hurdles in 14.25 and Ben Holland was a triple winner in the 100m (14.1), 200m (29.91) and long jump (4m14).

Bethan Burley was in fine form winning the hurdles in 12.36 and the high jump (1m35). Charlotte Ayton won the long jump (4m76), while Pippa Hine won the 200m in 27.31 with a storming finish.

Alfie Beddow was victorious in the under-15 boys discus with 24m65, while Harry Shepherd won the hammer (25m35) and pole vault (2m20) events.

The under-17 women winners were Kelly Snook (hurdles, 13.72), Caitlyn Hooper (triple jump, 10m02), Jess May (shot,7m28) and Maddie Williams (1500m, 5.30.7).

Ryan Webb won the triple jump (11.77) and 200m (23.61).

Other under-17 men’s winners were Louis Coppard (400m, 52.89), Fraser Hoare (shot, 10m16) and Piers Copeland the (1500m).
