WIMBORNE & Colehill leapt into second in Premier One Group B after securing a 28-run success in a high-scoring game with Ferndown Wayfarers.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, with excellent back-to-back partnerships setting them on their way at the Leaze.

Colin Randall (87) and Joe Weld (30) took the Minstermen to 85 before Randall combined with Tom Caines (54).

Simon Woodruff (66) and Jon Wilton (39) were also on song and Wimborne & Colehill eventually totalled 301 from their 50 overs.

Dean Elsworthy secured two for 62 and Robbie Stammas and Daryl Baines took a wicket apiece.

In reply, Ferndown started solidly and reached 50 before losing Leigh Dunham (23) and Elsworthy (26) in quick succession.

However, they kept the score ticking over thanks to Rob Bowering (18) and Daryl Baines (44), before Karl Jensen hit a quick-fire 54.

But the tail-end was disposed of with relative ease and Ferndown were eventually stopped on 273.

Caines took three for 30 and Chris Cornish three for 40.

Meanwhile, Swanage remained on course to finish top of Group B courtesy of victory over Stalbridge.

The home side had set a target of 152 which Swanage managed to reach with three wickets in hand.
