DARCY Ward is set to line up for Poole Pirates against Leicester this evening despite the punishment from his failed alcohol test looming large.

Promoter Matt Ford today confirmed that the Wimborne Road club had not received any notification from the Federation Internationale Motorcyclisme (FIM) stipulating that the 22-year-old Aussie could not participate.

Ward, who failed a breath test ahead of the Latvian Grand Prix on Sunday, yesterday competed in the Swedish top flight for Piraterna, scoring six points in a 48-42 victory over Indianerna.

His inclusion would mean Poole naming a full one-to-seven against a Lions side featuring no fewer than four changes.

Lakeside’s Lewis Bridger, Premier League newcomer Gino Manzares (Ipswich) and ex-Poole rider Mark Lemon (Redcar) come in for Mads Korneliussen and Nicolai Klindt, who are both riding in Denmark, and Simon Stead who is ill.

Former Poole reserve Ben Hopwood replaces the injured Josh Bates for Leicester.

Pirates: Darcy Ward, Josh Grajczonek, Shamek Pawlicki, Vaclav Milik, Maciej Janowski, Kyle Newman, Benji Compton.

Leicester: Jason Doyle, Lewis Bridger, Gino Manzares, Mark Lemon, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Ben Hopwood, Max Clegg.

Typical !!!! Glad I am not there tonight, I would be booing him - he does not deserve to ride, if it had been any other rider I am sure they would not have been riding tonight. Sorry to say that Leicester is no challenge for Poole tonight, should be a walk in the park as they say

Ok Neil here's one for you, its 1982 @ the shay and you are on gate 4, Kenny on 3,and you find out he has a ban looming over him for been **** when he singed on as a rider, as all riders have to do before a meet, have you got 100% confidence and trust in him as a fellow professional sportsman, or do you need to ask matt!
Neil please think as a rider!
Ward put all the riders lives at risk that night? end of.

A lengthy ban is rightfully on the cards & appropriate of course. The delusion of some people who are closest to this 'serial' offender need to wake up big time & not feed off scraps of mitigation. A fallen idol he may well just become but maybe not forever...... Incarceration or time out to reflect is the only way forward in this talented youngster's progress but more importantly & vital is having the right people & influences around him to succeed & reach the top. Nuff said.Change we must. Be that change Mr Ward.
