POOLE Town boss Tom Killick fears influential midfielder Marvin Brooks could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

Brooks, a key figure for the Dolphins in recent seasons, missed last night’s 0-0 draw at Hungerford after damaging his ankle during Saturday’s 1-0 win at Banbury.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “It looked fairly innocuous at the time but Marvin has been told he could be out for four weeks. We will know more after he has seen a specialist on Friday but it would certainly be a big blow if that were the case.

“He is an integral player for us and his absence would coincide with a suspension for Carl Pettefer, which kicks in on Saturday week. It would not be ideal to lose both but we will have to wait and see and, hopefully, it is not as bad as we fear.”

Should Killick lose the services of Brooks, youngsters Billy Lowes and Charlie Davis would come into contention, as would Micky Hubbard who is dual registered with Hamworthy United.

Killick was left to rue Poole missing the two best chances of the game against Southern Premier Division rivals Hungerford – from Carl Preston and Mark Jermyn – but was delighted with Lewis Lindsay’s debut.

The defender, released by Cherries in April, joined Poole after having a trial with League One outfit Crawley where former Dean Court boss Paul Groves is on the coaching staff.

“Lewis came in and did very well,” said Killick. “I spoke to him earlier in the summer and, at that point, he was pursuing other avenues. Shaun Brooks alerted me to the fact things hadn’t really materialised and his trial with Crawley didn’t give rise to anything.

“On the back of that, we got him involved with us. He lives in Poole and I really liked what I saw when he played for AFC Totton last season. He is young and is still going to improve. I think he could be a good signing for us.”
