HAYLEY Davis and Georgia Hall continued to put Dorset on the map by producing stunning displays in their respective tournaments.

Ferndown’s Davis blitzed the field to win the English Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship by six shots at Tandridge in Surrey.

And Parkstone’s Hall – making her debut as a professional – is joint leader heading into tomorrow’s final round of the 30,000 euro Ingarö Ladies Open in Stockholm.

England international Davis was applauded off the 18th green by a large crowd which had gathered to watch her win her third English title with a 72-hole total of four-under par.

It was her first victory for 18 months and added to the English Women’s Amateur Championship she won at her first attempt as a 17-year-old and the English girls’ title.

Davis, who is on a golf scholarship at Baylor University in Texas, was the only player to finish in red figures and set up her win with a flawless seven-under 64 in the third round which gave her an eight-stroke lead going into the final 18 holes.

And she never looked back after following 11 straight pars with a birdie at the 12th, her final round 72 seeing her triumph by six shots over Welsh international Becky Harries.

Davis, who was made an honorary member of Tandridge Golf Club at the prize presentation, said: “I hadn’t won anything for a while and it was really nice to do it with my mum, nan and granddad watching. It is lovely to have all three titles, they are all as important as each other.

“The course was really good but it was tough and it was nice to have a bit of a buffer and not to feel that I had to go low again in the final round.

“I’m playing really nicely at the moment and it is all coming together. I’ve had a really good summer and have played well in a lot of competitions.”

Former Ferndown Upper and Brockenhurst College student Davis, who carded 73 and 71 in her opening two rounds, also won the under-21 and under-23 trophies.

Meanwhile, Davis’s former Ferndown club-mate Hall made a flying start to life in the professional ranks and currently leads the way in the Ingarö Ladies Open.

The Wallisdown-based 18-year-old, playing her first event on the Ladies’ European Tour Access Series, shares first place with Switzerland’s Caroline Rominger.

Hall followed up her first round 67 with a one-under 69, leaving her and Rominger three shots ahead of the chasing pack going into tomorrow’s final round. The pair tee off at 9.50am with Sweden’s Isabella Ramsey, the current LET Access Series order of merit leader.
