STRIKER Josh McQuoid is set to join Cherries team-mates Ryan Allsop and Mohamed Coulibaly by linking up with League One outfit Coventry City.

McQuoid, who featured in all but one of Cherries’ pre-season friendlies, is due to sign on loan and will remain with the Sky Blues until January.

Goalkeeper Allsop and winger Coulibaly both joined Coventry as part of the deal which saw Callum Wilson move in the opposite direction last month.

McQuoid is due to start training with Coventry tomorrow after playing 90 minutes in Cherries’ final warm-up game at Oxford yesterday, where Wilson netted a hat-trick in a 4-1 win.

Capped five times by Northern Ireland, McQuoid was restricted to just one appearance for Cherries last season before he dropped into League One for a loan spell at Peterborough.

The frontman, who has a year left on his contract at Dean Court, netted once during 14 league games for Posh and was also on target at Wembley as they lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

He made 39 appearances during Cherries’ League One promotion campaign after returning to the club two years ago, having joined Millwall in a £550,000 deal in November 2010.

Confirming the loan move to Coventry earlier today, Cherries boss Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo: “With Josh entering the last year of his contract, we just felt there was a desire for him to play and we couldn’t guarantee that at this moment in time.

“He goes on loan to get those games that he needs and, from our perspective, we will review his performances as the weeks go by and see where we stand.

“He did really well in a foreign position against Oxford where he played in central midfield. He was excellent but trying to find game time for him at the start of the season with the squad we have I thought was going to be very difficult.”

Meanwhile, out-of-favour Cherries defender Stephane Zubar is tomorrow expected to start a three-day trial with Scottish Premiership outfit Partick Thistle.
