DARCY Ward and Vaclav Milik will be forced to put Pirates loyalties to one side when they represent rival nations in Thursday’s Speedway World Cup race-off.

Milik and the Czech Republic will meet Ward and Australia in Bydgoszcz, Poland, as well as Sweden and the United States.

Australia booked their place in the race-off after finishing third behind Great Britain and the US in event one at King’s Lynn on Saturday.

And the Czech Republic will take the same path after ending up third behind winners Denmark and second-placed Sweden in event two at Västervik tonight.

Latvia trailed in fourth at the Stena Arena.

Milik scored seven points from his five rides, which included three second places.

He saw off the likes of Bjarne Pedersen. Peter Kildemand and Hans Andersen during the meeting, but the Czechs found their Nordic opposition too hot to handle.

The final of the Speedway World Cup takes place in Bydgoszcz on Saturday with Poland, Great Britain and Denmark lying in wait.

The winner of the race-off will secure the fourth available berth in the field.

Speedway World Cup event two result: Denmark 48, Sweden 43, Czech Republic 24, Latvia 11.
