A CLUB-record partnership of 195 between Brad Schmulian and Ben Bridgen paved the way for Bournemouth to register a convincing 158-run win over Division One strugglers Hursley Park.

Schmulian (119) and Bridgen (89) put on the fifth highest third-wicket stand in the history of the competition as Bournemouth posted an imposing 289 for four.

Lions’ overseas star Schmulian hit 12 fours during his 123-ball stay and was undefeated at the close, while Dorset hopeful Bridgen cracked seven fours before George Russell (36) added late runs.

Hursley Park were never allowed to threaten as Dave Kidner (3-36), Anschuman Singh (3-17) and Matt Jones (2-23) all returned tidy spells.

And with wicketkeeper Luke Matthews pouching no fewer than five catches, the visitors to Chapel Gate were finally dismissed for 131.

  • Bashley and Lymington were both condemned to defeats in the Premier Division as their respective seasons continued to nose-dive.

Although Damien Mortimer (39) and Simon Beetham (32) both made starts, Lymington were routed for just 135 by Ventnor at the Sports Ground (Ian Hilsum 6-28).

The Islanders made light work of their reply at 136 for three (Matt Metcalfe 2-23) with defeat widening the gap at the foot of the table for Lymington.

Nick Baker (49), Richard Morris (45) and Sam Thomson (39) all chipped in as Bashley recovered from a disastrous start to post a modest 167 against South Wilts at BCG.

And although Thomson (3-82) claimed the scalps of Eddie Abel, Tom Morton and Charlie Esson, James Hayward (46) remained undefeated as South Wilts reached 173 for five, with defeat extending Bashley’s winless run to seven matches.
