RICHARD Morris admitted to a slither of disappointment following Bashley’s winning draw against struggling Lymington in the Southern Premier League.

Bashley secured 15 points to Lymo’s seven but captain Morris was frustrated that his team could not back up a strong display with the bat.

The visitors racked up 324 for five and in reply basement battlers Lymo totalled 158 for five, ensuring they ended up with a reasonable share of the spoils.

Morris told the Daily Echo: “I don’t really think the result was a completely fair reflection of how we dominated the game.

“To come away with only 15 points was a little bit disappoint- ing, but there were encouraging signs.

“Having loss the toss on quite a green wicket, we dominated from start to finish.

“People will look at it and think Lymington shut up shop with the bat, but ultimately we tried everything we could and couldn’t bowl them out on quite a good wicket.”

Bashley, who dropped club legend Neil Thurgood for the fixture, were in fine form with the bat after being put in by their hosts.

Opener Michael Porter smacked 80 off 112 deliveries and he was impressively backed up by Berkshire captain and debutant James Morris (68*).

Captain Morris (58) also made a sizeable contribution and Porter’s fellow opener Nick Baker (34) and Jaron Morgan (28) provided useful input.

Ed Freeman and Paul McCann claimed two-wicket hauls for Lymo, who did not score as heavily as their opponents in reply.

Wicketkeeper Dan Friedman gloved edges from the top three and then stumped Felix Ambrose (63) off Sam Thomson.

Opener Damien Mortimer was the only other home batsman to impress with a knock of 51.

Thomson ended with two for 57.
