HAYLEY Davis was today knocked out of the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship at Royal St George’s.
The Ferndown golfer, 21, defeated Scotland’s Alyson McKechin 2&1 before being sunk by Sweden’s Jenny Haglund in the last 32 of the match play knockout.
Parkstone’s Georgia Hall – the reigning champion – was eliminated following the stroke play phase, as was clubmate Sophie Keech.
Just 64 players advanced from the 144-strong field and Hall was a shock casualty having impressed for Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup earlier this month.
The 18-year-old, who plans to turn pro at the end of this year, opened with a four-over-par 78 before firing a 10-over second round to end up on 14-over.
Keech shot 86 in her opening round before a much-improved 78 saw her finish on 16-over.
