AFC Bournemouth: Burnley's Junior Stanislas could be a target for Cherries

Bournemouth Echo: POSSIBLE CHERRIES TARGET: Burnley's Junior Stanislas POSSIBLE CHERRIES TARGET: Burnley's Junior Stanislas

OUT-of-contract Burnley winger Junior Stanislas has emerged as a possible transfer target for Cherries manager Eddie Howe.

Stanislas featured 32 times for the Clarets last season as the east Lancashire outfit won promotion to the Premier League after finishing runners-up in the Championship.

The 24-year-old Londoner was signed by Howe for an undisclosed fee from West Ham when the Cherries boss was in charge at Turf Moor in August 2011.

Stanislas, capped by England at under-19, 20 and 21 level, progressed through the ranks at Upton Park and played in the Premier League for the Hammers.

He provided the assist for Danny Ings to equalise against Cherries at Turf Moor in November and has reportedly been offered fresh terms by the Clarets.

Cherries have also been linked with former Dean Court loan star Max Gradel, who is currently on international duty at the World Cup with Ivory Coast.

Gradel became a firm favourite with Cherries supporters when he enjoyed a fruitful stay in Dorset on a temporary transfer from Leicester City in 2007-08.

He returned to Leicester to help them win League One in 2009 before going on to star for Leeds as they clinched promotion to the Championship the following season.

Gradel, who came close to signing for West Ham in January, joined French club Saint-Etienne for an undisclosed fee in August 2011.

He has a year left on his contract and is rumoured to be a target for a number of Premier League clubs, including newly-promoted Leicester.

Leyton Orient’s highly-rated winger Moses Odubajo is another player to have been linked with Cherries, with Spurs and West Ham also keen on the 20-year-old.

Watched Max playing for the Ivory Coast a couple of days ago - looked as lively as ever - but hope that a striker to exploit the opportunities he would create is also on the way though. Good ones though are thin on the ground and a scarse commodity, but am sure that Eddie has some one in mind and we wont know until they are signed.

The Sun are reporting that QPR are to make an offer for Cook, however also say that he is to be made a contract improvment from Afcb.
Do we really need more wingers??? it is the one department that we have real competition for places, unless there are immenant departures.!!!!
Expect some movement in the transfer market at the end of the month, when player contracts expire.
ONLY 47 DAYS TO SEASON K.O.

I completely agree. We have enough wingers (at least 5). Attention to central defence and strikers should be our priority.

I can only guess that Eddie may be looking to convert a winger into a similar striking role just like Grabban.

I also think we have enough wingers at the moment, and would like to see any potential money that was going to be spent on another one put towards keeping the likes of Cooke at Dean Court.
IMO he would be much harder to replace with anyone of similar quality and his loss would make this coming season into more of a mid table consolidation season rather than challenging for a play off place.
Also, we've not replaced Grabbs yet.

Central defence ? We have 3 first choice centre backs, we have two good youngsters coming through the development squad, Cargill and Muleba we have Addison who we need off the books and Partington well who knows, and let's not forget if needs be Francis can go centre back with Smith filling in at RB. And there is the emergency loan option so unless there is any movement out I would say we are covered in that area.

Central defenders ? I was a big fan of Maxi in League One, but do w really need to go back to the Pitman vs. Gradel punch ups over who's taking penalties ?

I read somewhere (vital I think) that as well as the wingers mentioned above we are also looking at a winger from Leyton. If there truly is no smoke without fire then I fear the most with regard to Cherry sales.........

Disappointing when the Echo sports desk can do little more at the moment than fan the flames on groundless rumours. Unless stories can be substantiated a good deal better are they really worth writing? Be honest Neil, you just make up much of what you write. If I'm wrong in saying that, then let's see a bit more substance to your stories - backed up with genuine research and facts. You really are not doing yourself any favours printing what appears to be little more than idle speculation.

in fairness to the Echo they have pages to fill and little or no news coming from the club, you only have to read the club website to realise they have so far they have filled their pages daily with articles already seen in the matchday programme, at a time when interest should be boosted for the fans and encourage them them to buy season tickets and shop items, it is strangely silent, since coming back from the Football league meeting Jeff Mostyn seems to have gone missing, when I would imagine there must be a few things he could bring us up to speed on
