CHERRIES striker Matt Tubbs has joined AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old turned down a return to Crawley Town in favour of a switch to Neal Ardley’s League Two side.

Crawley had agreed a deal with Cherries to sign Tubbs on a permanent basis a month ago, but the Verwood-raised forward was cool on the prospect of a return.

The former Salisbury City man spent the second half of last season on loan at the Broadfield Stadium, scoring eight goals in 18 League One appearances.

He had previously spent six months at Rotherham, where he netted just once in 21 outings.

Mudeford resident Tubbs has one year left on his contract at Dean Court and has been told he does not feature in Eddie Howe’s plans.
