GEORGIA Hall won her Curtis Cup-closing singles match but that was not enough to prevent Great Britain & Ireland losing out to the United States in Missouri.

The Parkstone star beat Kyung Kim 3&2, during which she holed an eagle from 95 yards on the 15th at St Louis Country Club.

However, Great Britain missed out on retaining the championship they won in Nairn, Scotland two years ago after suffering a 13-7 defeat.

Hall and partner Stephanie Meadow were defeated 2&1 by United States pair Mariah Stackhouse and Emma Talley in Friday’s four-ball but halved their foursomes match against Ashlan Ramsey and Alison Lee.

The duo lost Saturday’s four-ball 4&2 to Lee and Kyung Kim and then darkness caused their foursomes match against Stackhouse and Ally McDonald to run into Sunday, with the contest eventually halved.

Great Britain & Ireland trailed the United States 9.5-2.5 prior to the closing eight singles matches, which brought the curtain down on the event.
