OLD Bournemouthians continue to set the pace in Dorset Sunday League Division One courtesy of a six-wicket victory at Winton.

The visitors elected to bowl but Badral Alam was dismissed for a duck, while Mike Kitson's innings was ended with just three runs on the board.

Winton looked in serious peril when captain Gavin Wright was bowled by Patrick Smith without score to put them three wickets down for only five runs.

The hosts staged a mini-revival but Ally Williams (15), John Duke (13) and Harry Seal (11) also tumbled quickly to leave Winton on 54 for eight.

Winton needed the tail to wag and Matt Clark duly obliged, putting on 25 runs which took the home side to 101.

Smith claimed superb figures of five for 27 while there was also a two-wicket haul for Max Huntley.

In reply, Old Bournemouthians set about their task with relish.

Although Kitson took out the top two of Andrew Fulton (17) and Christian Blake, Shanthan Godula (23*) proved impossible to dislodge.

Huntley (13) and Brett Custard (11) also chipped in while Colin Potter helped the visitors across the line before 24 overs had been played.

Elsewhere in the division, Broadstone were subjected to a three-wicket defeat by Portland.

St Georges reached 254-6 in their allotted overs and Swanage could not get close in reply, being dismissed for just 116.

Swanage were left bottom of the league following the weekend’s action.
